Lockheed Martin has developed and produced non-propulsion electronic systems for all submarines in the U.S. Navy fleet. The business unit's design philosophy features open systems architecture and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technology to maximize performance and minimize life-cycle costs. Lockheed Martin has used this approach to develop the command, control, and communications, and intelligence system for the Virginia class submarine.
