FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA – January 10, 2004 – RTI was selected as the Lead Architect for the Joint Program Executive Office (JPEO) for Chemical and Biological Defense (CBD) Information Systems (IS) to create a Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) integrated architecture for all JPEO IS.
Per mandate from the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), all DoD architectures must:
- Support and link to the overarching GIGA
- Support transition to NCES and Netcentric Warfare
- Use the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
- Support and link to the DoD Enterprise
RTI's responsibilities include: Leading and chairing the Integrated Technical Team, and Architecture Team. We are responsible for producing and maintaining "the" Integrated Architecture for Joint Chemical and Biological Defense Information Systems (IAJCBDIS) for all JPEO CBD Information Systems Programs. We are also responsible for uniting all Programs of Record through a common framework that we define which facilitates and enforces netcentricity, integration, policy, standards, guidance, operational concepts, and technical consistency across all programs, and which serves as the system evolution plan for the family of CBD information systems.
Further technical responsibilities include:
- Providing technical architecture oversight and input into prototypes, component, architectures, and designs.
- Identifying integration and interface requirements across all programs.
- Identifying integration and interface requirements for the Integrated System with C4I systems.
- Defining a strategy for integrating with future C4I systems; participate in working groups; and disseminate relevant information to all parties concerned.
- Defining standards for system of systems integration, including applicable operating systems, programming languages, tools, and core components as applicable.
- Identifying data schema requirements for the integrated system.
- Initiating the appropriate standardization process for features of the system architecture that could benefit from formal industry standardization.
Selection for this prestigous position further enforces RTI's core niche expertise in the software and systems engineering arena of U.S. DoD CBRNE & WMD protection and early warning systems.
