What is the RTI Auto Poster?
RTI Auto Poster (RAP) is a small utility that extracts information from an ODBC Data Source and publishes it on USENET Newsgroups and/or to one or more email recipients.
How can RAP be useful to my organization?
A lot of organizations store useful information in databases which are rarely accessed due to the cost associated with manually extracting and publishing the data. RAP can automate this process -- whether it's web server statistics, employee information from the corporate database, or knowledge gathered through the company website, RAP can regularly pull this information (based on a SQL Query) and post it to a Newsgroup or email it to a specified group of people.
What are the capabilities of the current version of RAP?
The current version of RAP is capable of extracting information and publishing it to several Newsgroups and send an email notification summarizing of the publishing. The capability to email the information out instead of (or in addition to) posting it to newsgroups, and to customize the SQL Query and ODBC Data Source will be implemented in the near future.
What do I need to install RAP?
All the capabilities of RAP are encapsulated in one tiny 5 KB Java .class file. If you already have JDK 1.1 or 1.2 installed, you will need nothing else.
How do I get RAP and what does it cost?
Get RAP by sending your name and address to info@rti-world.com. The software is shareware and we would expect a nominal fee ($25) to cover the cost for handling and royalty payments to our fine staff.
